Annual Boat Parade

Terry Hackett Memorial Boat Parade

July4th, 11:00 am

      BoatParade

Special thanks to the Killam family for hosting the judges at Weymouth Point.

The July 4th Boat Parade is an event that many of us look forward to each and every year! It always amazes the judges at the creativity that exists within the LOLA community.  If you are not participating in the parade, be sure to join with friends and family to cheer from shore!

History of the Boat Parade

Theme:  Noted on home page.

Before 11:00am
Pick up your number at Taflas’ dock, brown camp on your right as you head toward the dam.

11:00 Parade Route –
Having picked up your number, your tour of the lake will take you to Bear Island  where you will see a barge anchored with a big Red Star.  When you approach the barge, show them your entry number and in turn, they will hand you a Red Star.  Continue your ride to Camp Laughing Loon and just past Camp Laughing Loon, you will see a Big Blue Star at the end of a dock.  Again, show them your entry number and the Red Star and they will give you a Blue Star. You will need both stars (Red and Blue) and your entry number to be considered for a prize. Once your Blue Star has been secured, continue your journey along the shoreline to the judges’ station at Weymouth Point, where the judges will be waiting to select the winners.  Remember that once you approach the judge’s station, you want to dazzle them with song and entertainment which, by the way, you may want to do throughout your journey around the lake as many of the residents on shore will be cheering you on!

Prizes:

There are 2 classes: 1 for boats (non-pontoon), and 1 for barges (pontoon).  In each category, up to 3 prizes for each class will be awarded at the discretion of the judges, members of the LOLA Board, who watch the parade from Weymouth Point.  Typically cash prizes are awarded as follows: 1st-$75.00, 2nd-$50.00, 3rd-$25.00, SUBJECT TO CHANGE..

Best-in-Show is a trophy awarded to a boat in either class which exhibits the best environmental message/display.  The winner holds the trophy until the next boat parade.

Throughout your journey, please remember to respect the boating laws and to give ample room to the boats or barges in front of you.

Remember, think Safety First and Good Luck!
